Alterations & Additions
The original 8 square, 100yr old weatherboard cottage nestled on a large treed block had an upper storey viewing platform that allowed a 360 degree view of the surrounding area, but was in urgent need of repair.
Our clients brief was to almost double the size of the original cottage to create a home to meet their needs, but to keep the 'feel' of the original dwelling.
A feature front entrance and varying roof pitches were used to create interest whilst traditional cladding materials and construction methods were used to maintain the integrity of the building. The viewing platform was replaced and a spiral staircase used to allow space for a verandah.
The original open fireplace was retained to become the focal point of the new kitchen, living area. A large main bedroom with a walk in robe and ensuite, a smaller guest bedroom with ensuite and a laundry complete the floor plan.
New life has been breathed into this home and it will be enjoyed by our clients for years to come.
